save Farming Campaign involved the introduction of high yielding pest resistant variety “Mahamaya” of Rice in Jagdalpur district of Chhattisgarh. 400 acres of agricultural area covered under the Krishi Kranti Yogna, in 35 villages of 4 blocks of Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. Cooperative Farming practiced in 80 ha area, included farming of 25 different crops, introducing multiple cropping to yield better results from the individual landholdings. Low Cost Indigenous Technologies transferred to the beneficiaries in Kanker district, to boost up agricultural productivity. The major technologies included low lift pump, zero cool energy chamber, preparation & use of nuclear poly-hydro sis virus, soil testing kit and pitcher system of irrigation. Crop improvement technology through participatory approach including improved varieties, tissue-culture plants, bio fertilizers, bio pesticides, cow urine based plant protection methods, rain fed farming of gram etc. Establishment of Community orchards in 12 villages covering a total area of 700 acres of wasteland. The fruit crops including Mango, Aonla, Guava, Jackfruit, Karonda, and some forestry plants like Teak, Khamar, Bamboo etc. were planted in the orchard. This approach also included “intercropping of vegetables and cereals on lease basis”.
